Welcome to the PHA4GE Ethics and Data Sharing Platform

Welcome to our Ethics and Data Sharing Discussion Platform, and thank you for coming to visit the site. We hope that you are going to be a returning visitor who signs up to join the conversation as we build this community of practice in ethics and data governance.

We decided to build this platform as a way to bring together researchers, ethicists, people wishing to learn how to apply these principles in their ongoing research, and other interested individuals, to participate. We have already posted some discussion points and collaborative projects aligned to our own interests on this site; but we hope that as more people sign up and find this a safe, collegial, cooperative and positive community, you will all be encouraged to start your own threads and/or collaborative projects. There are spaces where we can share opportunities for funding (and PHA4GE will have a limited number of small grants available too), training and courses, questions we would like to see answered, and discussions about topical issues or other ethics and data sharing issues that might be on your mind.

It is very important to us that this platform remains a collegial and respectful space, where members with less experience will be free to ask questions and venture opinions, and grow their own ethics and data-sharing practice. We also hope that this will be a much wider community beyond bio-ethicists or data governance experts, and will include anyone who has ethics and data-sharing issues touch their work in some way, however small or large.

In order to participate in the discussion threads and collaborations, we do request that you create an account with your real name and institution, so that we can ensure transparent, respectful and honest interactions. Various documents and policies for this platform are also available via the menu, so you can revisit them whenever you wish.

I am excited to see this online community grow and tackle some real and interesting themes, challenges and developments in the ethics and data sharing space, and on behalf of the PHA4GE Ethics and Data Sharing Working Group, we look forward to all our interactions with you in the future.

Nicki Tiffin (Ph D, MPH, FAAS), Chair: PHA4GE Ethics and Data Sharing Working Group;
and current active members: Anja Bedeker, Alice Matimba, Alwyn Mwinga, Brianna Lindsay, Oladapo Olagbegi, and Vicky Nembaware. Also recognising PHA4GE Secretariat team members Alecia Naidoo and Jami Southgate who have provided sterling support to assist with creating this platform.
